At approximately 10:19am this morning, tremors resulting from a 4.8 magnitude earthquake near Lebanon, NJ were felt throughout the area, including the Town of Clarkstown. No damages have been reported to the Town at this time. I have directed town staff to begin a complete and thorough safety check of all our critical infrastructure, and I will continue to keep our residents updated as necessary. Cell phone service was temporarily disrupted due to an overload of call volume, but appears to be functioning normally again now.
I am extremely thankful that we appear to have come through this event safely, without any related injuries or damages.
