STATE COMPTROLLER IMPROVES CLARKSTOWN FISCAL SCORE BY OVER 14 POINTS

New City, NY– Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town Board announced a significant improvement in Clarkstown’s fiscal stress score, according to the New York State Comptroller’s Fiscal Stress Monitoring System. Clarkstown’s score improved by over 14 points, from 26.7 in 2024 to 14.2 in 2025, continuing the Town’s years of progress and commitment to improving its finances.

When Supervisor Hoehmann first began his administration, Clarkstown was among the municipalities placed on the State Comptroller’s fiscal stress watch list. Since then, the Supervisor and Town Board have worked year after year to turn the Town’s finances around and put Clarkstown in a stronger financial position for the future. The continued improvement in the Town’s fiscal stress score reflects that ongoing commitment to responsible financial management and protecting Clarkstown taxpayers.

That progress has been supported by the Town’s continued efforts to soundly manage Town finances including capping property taxes, securing tens of millions in grant funding for major projects, retiring or refinancing outstanding bond debt, and making the budget process the most transparent in town history. As Clarkstown continues to strengthen its finances, the Town has been able to grow its financial reserves and maintains the highest bond rating of any town in Rockland County.

Supervisor George Hoehmann, on behalf of the entire Town Board stated, “When I first took office, Clarkstown was facing serious financial challenges and was on the State Comptroller’s fiscal watch list. Since then, we have worked to turn that around, and this year’s improved fiscal stress score is another sign of the progress we have made as we remain committed to keeping Clarkstown financially strong. We thank the State Comptroller’s office for providing this updated fiscal stress score which once again shows Clarkstown’s strong financial standing.”
