Summer Events in Clarkstown

With all the rain we’ve had recently, it’s easy to forget that the first official day of summer is
almost upon us. While the weather hasn’t caught up yet, the Town of Clarkstown has been
working hard for months in advance to offer its residents a season full of family fun. Whether
you enjoy concerts, fireworks, car shows, swimming at the pool, fishing, family campouts, or
outdoor movie nights, Clarkstown has summer fun in store for you.

Our first major event of the season, “Serendipity Saturday,” took place at Germonds Pool on
June 14th. Even though the rain kept attendance numbers down at the celebration, Germonds
Pool is now officially open for the season, and our other pools will soon follow. Congers pool will
open this weekend on Saturday, June 21st, and Lake Nanuet will open on Saturday, June 28th.
Each pool offers something a little different than the others; Lake Nanuet offers an expansive,
zero-entry experience with a mid-pool island and small slides, Germonds offers a dive pool and
larger slide, and Congers offers a less crowded experience and a splash pad for the little ones.

Entry to the pools is fee-based, requires advance registration, and is restricted to Clarkstown
residents and their guests. Registration for a free Town Community Pass ID card can be
completed at the Parks and Recreation office located at 31 Zukor Road in New City. Daily,
individual season, and family season passes are available for purchase at that office. Applicants
must bring multiple forms of identification and proof of residency to obtain the Community Pass
ID card, which is necessary for entry to the pools. Senior residents and post 9/11 combat
veterans with a valid Community Pass card are admitted for free. The Recreation Department
can be reached at 1-845-639-6200 if you have any further questions.

Another immensely popular summer offering from the Town is our free summer concert series.
The first concert coincides with the Town’s annual Independence Day Concert and Fireworks
show, which takes place this year on June 25th starting at 6:30 pm. Admission is free and open
to all residents and guests, and the entertainment features a flying demonstration by the
Rockland County Radio Control Club, and a concert by the popular musical act “The Mighty
Spectrum Band” at 8:00pm. The evening ends with an amazing display of fireworks following
the concert. A wide variety of food trucks are on-site and residents are also welcome to pack
their own picnics. The event takes place on the athletic fields at the Felix Festa Middle School in
West Nyack and the rain date is Friday, June 27th. Bring your chairs and blankets and come out
for a great night of family fun.

The remainder of the summer series features both evening and lunchtime concerts across the
town. Lake Nanuet will host its first show on Friday, June 27th with a performance by “Ladies of
the 80’s” and then another 9 shows on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. The
Congers Train Station, West Nyack Hamlet Green and Firefighters Memorial Park, and
Traphagen Estate will each host a concert. And closing out the season, starting on September
12th, lunchtime concerts will be held on Fridays at 12:15pm in Kevin Landau Memorial Park in
New City. These concerts will run through Friday, October 3rd. A full schedule of these shows is
published on the Town’s Parks and Recreation website in the “Spring and Summer 2025
Guide.”

Other popular summer events taking place in the town include 3 car shows at Congers Lake, a
number of “Painting in the Park” events, movie night at Lake Nanuet on August 8th, and a family
campout at Congers Lake on September 5th.

In addition to these special events, the town’s park system offers over 700 acres of land, 4
community centers, 2 picnic shelters, ball fields, multiple tennis and basketball courts, 2 multi-
court outdoor pickleball facilities, and a variety of playgrounds including a new accessible play
area in West Nyack, and our latest addition of an all-inclusive playground at Zukor Park in New
City. You can set up a quiet picnic, let the kids loose on the playground, or take a stroll along
the beautiful walking trails at Congers Lake and West Nyack.

I hope to see you out there, and I wish everyone a safe, fun, and healthy summer!
